The collect for the 11th Sunday after Trinity begins, “O GOD, who declarest thy almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity.”  How does showing mercy declare God’s power?  Those who know God’s mercy are empowered to live in the glory of the life to come.  Those who know God’s mercy have changed and will continue to change the world.
